Our Materials
Materials
We don't cut corners on what goes into our work. Every material is chosen deliberately, sourced responsibly, and held to a standard we'd be comfortable putting our name on.
Leather
We source full-grain vegetable-tanned calfskin leather from some of the most respected tanneries in the world. Conceria Il Ponte in Italy, certified to LWG Gold standard. Tochigi Leather in Japan, known for producing some of the finest vegetable-tanned hides available and select certified tanneries across Asia, all holding LWG and ISO certifications.
Vegetable tanning is a slower, older process. It uses natural tannins derived from bark and plants rather than synthetic chemicals, which is better for the environment and produces leather that develops a patina over time. The longer it's used, the better it looks.
Exotic Materials
We occasionally work with fish leather sourced from ICTYOS in France, made from skins that would otherwise be discarded by the food industry. It's a material most people haven't encountered before — surprisingly durable, distinctly textured, and entirely traceable.
We also work with crocodile offcuts from Heng Long, a Singaporean tannery that supplies to some of the world's leading luxury houses. These are remnants from the cutting process, material that would otherwise go to waste. We use them deliberately and sparingly. We don't believe in sourcing exotic skins purely for the sake of luxury, but we do believe in making use of what already exists rather than letting it go to waste.
Craft
A portion of our pieces are crafted in partnership with a family-run workshop in Hong Kong that has been operating for 37 years. They bring a level of consistency, ethics, and quiet mastery that's increasingly rare. The rest is made by hand in our own workshop.
Our Standard
Good materials handled well last a lifetime. That's the only brief we work to.
